If you are in Ibadan and you love film and cinema, then you will love Thursday Film Series, a weekly film show series initiated and supported by the Institute of French Research in Africa, which comes up every Thursday at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan.
This Thursday, the 29th of June 2017, join fellow cinema lovers at the Thursday Film Series taking place at Drapers Hall, Institute of African Studies University of Ibadan by 4:00 pm for the screening of the film On Fruitvale Station. Admission is free.
On Fruitvale Station is a 2013 American biographical drama film written and directed by Ryan Coogler. It is Coogler’s first feature-length film and is based on the events leading to the death of Oscar Grant, a young man who was killed in 2009 by BART police officer Johannes Mehserle at the Fruitvale district station of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system in Oakland. The film stars names like Michael B. Jordan of The Fantastic 4 and Creed fame as well as Kevin Durand and Chad Michael Murray.The film won the Best Movie at the 2013 Sundance film festival among many other awards.
