Attend IFRANigeria’s Lecture On Yoruba Hunter’s Music

If you are in Ibadan or anywhere near the city, then you should  then you should be at the Institute for French Research in Africa’s event  on Friday, the 2nd of March, 2018  IFRA Nigeria is organizing a distinguished lecture titled  “Present Day Hunters’ Festival in Yorubaland and Their Music”. The lecture will hold at the Draper’s Hall of the  Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan by 2pm.

If you are interested in Yoruba culture, especially in the art of Ijala (hunter songs), an art which goes back to ancient times and is a core part of Yoruba history, then you should be available for this lecture to be delivered by Dr. Cécile Delétré all the way  from the University  of Paris-Sorbonne/Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Dr. Delétré,  an ethnomusicologist and specialist on Yoruba hunter songs, will be sharing her  European perspective on Ijala music and the experience she has gained from conducting extensive recordings and analyses of hunter songs in Nigeria over the past decade. The event is free to enter and  is open to everyone who is interested in Yoruba hunter music in particular and the Yoruba culture and tradition in general.
